CLIMATE-ADAPT

Disaster risk management: The systematic process of using administrative directives, organizations, and operational skills and capacities to implement strategies, policies and improved coping capacities in order to lessen the adverse impacts of hazards and the possibility of disaster. [1]
Comment: This term is an extension of the more general term "risk management" to address the specific issue of disaster risks. Disaster risk management aims to avoid, lessen or transfer the adverse effects of hazards through activities and measures for prevention, mitigation and preparedness.

UNISDR

The systematic process of using administrative directives, organizations, and operational skills and capacities to implement strategies, policies and improved coping capacities in order to lessen the adverse impacts of hazards and the possibility of disaster. [2]

This term is an extension of the more general term “Risk Management” to address the specific issue of disaster risks. Disaster risk management aims to avoid, lessen or transfer the adverse effects of hazards through activities and measures for prevention, mitigation and preparedness.

Gestion des risques de catastrophe: Processus de recours systématique aux directives, compétences opérationnelles, capacités et organisation administratives pour mettre en oeuvre les politiques, strategies et capacités de réponse appropriées en vue d’atténuer l’impact des aléas naturels et risques de catastrophes environnementales et technologiques qui leur sont liées. إدارة مخاطر الكوارث: العملية النمطية باستخدام التوجيهات الإدارية والمنظمات والمهارات والقدرات العملية اللازمة لتطبيق الاستراتيجيات والسياسات والقدرات المحسنة للمواجهة، وذلك من أجل تخفيف الآثار السلبية للمخاطر واحتمالات وقوع الكوارث. [6]

Manajemen risiko bencana: Proses sistematis dalam menggunakan peraturan administratif, lembaga dan ketrampilan serta kapasitas operasional untuk melaksanakan strategi-strategi, kebijakan-kebijakan dan kapasitas bertahan yang lebih baik untuk mengurangi dampak merugikan yang ditimbulkan ancaman bahaya dan kemungkinan bencana. Pengurusan risiko bencana: Proses sistematik menggunakan arahan pentadbiran, organisasi dan kemahiran operasi dan keupayaan melaksanakan strategi, dasar dan keupayaan kapasiti penerimaan yang lebih baik, dengan tujuan mengurangkan impak buruk bahaya dan kemungkinan bencana berlaku. [8]

Peligro ng Kalamidad: Ang sistematikong proseso ng paggamit ng mga administratibong direktiba, organisasyon at mga kasanayan at kakayahan sa operasyon upang maisakatuparan ang mga estratehiya, patakaran at pinagbuting mga kakayahan upang mabawasan ang negatibong epekto ng bantang panganib at ng posibilibidad ng kalamidad. Disaster risk management (DRM): Processes for designing, implementing, and evaluating strategies, policies, and measures to improve the understanding of disaster risk, foster disaster risk reduction and  transfer, and promote continuous improvement in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery practices, with the explicit purpose of increasing human security, well-being, quality of life, and sustainable development. La Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres está basada en la investigación científica y de registro de informaciones, y orienta las políticas, estrategias y acciones en todos los niveles de gobierno y de la sociedad con la finalidad de proteger la vida de la población y el patrimonio de las personas y del Estado. Republic of Trinidad & Tobago

Saint Lucia

This comprises all forms of activities,including structural and nonstructural measures to avoid (prevention) or to limit (mitigation and preparedness) adverse effects of hazards (from: ISDR). [16]
